About Me
Hi, my name is Charlotte and I am the owner of Haelan Health Services. I have always known I would dedicate my life to uplifting others but I never envisioned how far my life journey would have taken me. Following my passions and learning about a holistic wellness has lead me to a place where I can continue to evolve as a women, wife, friend, and family member.
I moved to Canada from England in 2011 after meeting my now husband travelling in South East Asia. I had already told myself that remaining in Engladn wasn’t me, and to be honest, I was leading a unhealthy lifestyle that needed drastic change. Surprise Surprise that change didn’t magically come when I moved half way across the world. It took years of dedication to myself and my health before I finally felt I found my path.
As a counsellor
I am registered with the Canadian Counselling and Psychothery Association as a Certified Canadian Counsellor. I spent the past eight years working with individuals facing mental health challenges, with a focus on crisis management, relationships, and healthy communication with oneself and others. I have worked closely with people experiencing homelessness, substance use concerns and those leaving incarceration. More recently, my work has been dedicated to supporting women and mothers who have experienced domestic violence and life transitions, providing a safe space for healing and recovery.
My therapeutic approach mostly integrates Somatic and Narrative therapy along with Integrated Family Systems, emphasizing the connection between the body and mind in addressing trauma and emotional distress. I tailor my methods to each client's specific needs, to create a solutions-focused path ahead that helps rebuild a sense of safety, empowerment, self-compassion and resilience.
I believe in the spectrum of human behaviour
As a doula
As a Birth Doula, I see it as my place to support the birthing parent and partner to have the most empowering experience possible. Birth comes in all shapes and sizes and the most important thing is that the baby arrives and the birther can feel proud of her inner strength and birthing journey. Sometimes, all I need to offer is words of encouragement and a comforting presence, other times I offer hands on techniques to relax the birther to encourage relaxation, pain relief and easier an passage. Techniques I offer are massage and acupressure, robozo shifting and position support, aromatherapy, and guided meditations.
You and your baby are the experts in the room
